Google Penalizes Websites Engaging in Reciprocal Linking

If your links look like this…

In an attempt to manipulate their page rank, each page links to all others in the club.

You could end up here.

Building link farms or collaborating to build reciprocal links is easily detectable and a bad practice for boosting your site’s ranking. A great measure (and formerly the only measure) of how popular a website was on the internet is measuring it’s “Page Rank”. Page rank the probability of a randomly surfing internet user will end up on your website. Links from websites regularly visited contribute to your page rank, and links out of your website contribute to others. For a more technical discussion on page rank, check out this.

The reason why reciprocal linking wasn’t banned from the beginning is because it requires computer resources to detect. A search engine would have to remember previous links while randomly surfing in order to do meaningful analysis. Because most websites have hundreds or even thousands of links on them, the amount of analysis for just one site is relatively massive and increases exponentially with inward pointing or outward pointing links.

Detecting reciprocal linking is now possible, and soon three-way linking schemes (i.e. website A links to website B, who links to website C, who links back to A) will also be banned. How long it’ll take for Google to be capable of detecting these three-way links relatively quickly is hard to say. One thing is known however, inbound linking strategies shouldn’t be centered around reciprocal linking. This manufactured form of link creation is not respected by the architects of Google’s search algorithm and therefore is ultimately a waste of time. Focus on creating unique, high-quality content that is beneficial to your visitors and you’ll not only get credit from Google when it’s bots skim your site, but the chances or inbound links from other reputable sites for the first time becomes a possibility.

These guys are awesome, they are like the freaking gods of the web design world. Not to mention how much I was able to save with their fair pricing. They delivered a top notch website designed just the way I visioned it, hosting on a reliable server, SEO to die for, and are always there to help if I have any questions or requests. Couldn't be happier that I found them and don't see myself ever wasting my time and/or money with another company ever again. Keep up the hard work gents.

These guys handled all of the headache of building a website and making sure it shows up on the first page of google. They also made it easy for our customers to view products on phones and tablets. It did take some time (over a month) but the finished project was amazing and their communication of their timeline was also very good. I would definitely recommend them to any other business!

These guys will basically build any program you can think of, they do the design and the build while keeping you in the loop at all times. They are more affordable than the bigger companies and definitely have more expertise and care for the customer. I was impressed.
