Why do I need Web Presence Management?

We get asked all the time at PartPixel: What is Web Presence Management?, What do you guys provide besides Web Design when I hire you to build my website?, Is it necessary for me to spend money on SEO?, so I thought I’d answer these questions online to clarify.
Web Presence Management is a subset of Public Relations. If your business is dependent on inbound sales like most, your reputation is paramount to the success and long term viability of your business. Web presence management is a comprehensive approach to boost your business’s credibility to those exposed to it through the internet. Web design, being a subset of the all encompassing web presence management, only relates to the aesthetics of your site and not to the content or lead generating attributes of your domain.
When you hire us to build your website, besides handling the web design and delivering one of the most beautiful pages on the internet, we build the site to be SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZED. I’ll spare you all the details, but a website properly configured for search engines like Google and Yahoo’s robots to parse will be placed above similar sites that are not. Besides the configuration of your site, having new content periodically added to your page is very beneficial to your search engine ranking. That being said, in order to get the most out of your website, you’ll need to either hire someone to generate content RELATED TO YOUR BUSINESS. This may seem obvious, but many SEO teams simply dump random content on their client’s sites to bloat the measure of total content. While this used to work, search engine algorithms have become more advanced over the years and if this is detected, your site will actually be PUNISHED. Online marketing is a numbers game. Nothing more, nothing less. Given a professionally laid out and aesthetically pleasing website, the higher you rank on searches related to your business, the more traffic your site will receive, and you’ll obtain more revenue.
As for continuously spending money on SEO, necessity differs from business to business. If your website is simply an online business card, I wouldn’t advise someone to spend a substantial amount of SEO. I would however emphasize the importance of having your site CONFIGURED for SEO. The reason is that many people don’t know the difference between a URL and a search engine query, and since most browsers automatically detect what someone is typing into the URL bar as one or the other, there’s really no reason for a layperson to know. It is absolutely crucial to your business, regardless of what it is, for your website to come up on the front page of search engines if your BUSINESS NAME is explicitly searched for. As for businesses that benefit from inbound marketing or businesses with an online store, SEO spending should be a regular part of the budget since the money spent immediately comes back in multiples. When the spending stops and the search engines realize your site hasn’t changed at all in a few weeks, your site will start falling down the front page of the search engines. Close to half of all internet traffic is search engine bots combing through websites while developing search profiles for them. What this means for YOU is the results of your SEO dollars will be realized VERY quickly, and you can soon measure the effectiveness of SEO spending for your specific business. Typical results yield investment returns of 5-10x the SEO investment in PROFIT with some of our better cases ranging from 50-100x.
